The last day

Our last day in China was filled with several goodbyes and a few last adventures. We took the train from Guangzhou to Hong Kong and spent our final night at the airport hotel. We got up early and caught our flight home via Tokyo. Henry & Sadie did a great job on the flights home except for a few moments that were expected. Once through the new immigrant processing line we put the kids in the car and drove home. Henry took to our large menagerie immediately and we all felt just a little more comfortable as a family living in a home and not a hotel.

Sadie says goodbye to her last squatty-potty, at least for a while.

Hello Kitty watches the scenery pass by through the train window. Lion was a bit more melancholy and reflective.

Hong Kong adventure number 1: They drive on the other side of the road. Oddly enough none of us noticed this until well into the taxi ride.

When staying in Hong Kong with a 3 & 4 year-old, nothing quite beats the view of the airport hotel and watching planes land and take off. We had to move all the chairs underneath the window so that Sadie & Henry could take in the show.

Hong Kong adventure number 2: Dinner out. Trains, planes, and automobiles make everyone hungry. Henry made no attempt to hide his satisfaction of devouring his plate of spaghetti that night.

Hong Kong adventure number 3: King of the mountain. The hotel had a courtyard with a playground called Kiddie World.

Henry was a little disappointed once he discovered it wasn't "Kitty World." But once he found this life-sized hippopotamus he could climb inside, he quickly came around.

Hong Kong adventure number 4: Pachyderm physiology. Sadie points out the anatomically correct innards of the hippo complete with labels in English, French, Spanish, and Braille. These are the kidneys.

A pink & purple couch. What more could this girl want.

Henry says goodbye to China.

Home at last. Some of us are returning. For one of us it is the first time. His first word after leaving the airport and getting into the car was "Cold!"

Elmo balloons and a dinosaur cake were there to greet us.

There were plenty of dinosaurs, too.

We'll update some more soon of the first few days.

We're home!

We are home and getting comfortable. Sadie & Henry have pulled just about every toy off the shelves and out of the bins. We'll post soon with more photos from our last day and updates as they happen! Now, it is off to bed.
